Total solar eclipse

of Wednesday, August 12, 2026

This solar eclipse is the sixteenth total eclipse of the "21st century" and the second SOLAR ECLIPSE of the year 2026

General map of the eclipse

Path of totality across Spain and Portugal

It will be visible as a TOTAL SOLAR ECLIPSE in GREENLAND, ICELAND, SPAIN, and PORTUGAL, and as a PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE across all of EUROPE and NORTH AFRICA.

This SOLAR ECLIPSE will last for more than TWO HOURS depending on the locations crossed.
The specificity and particularity of this SOLAR ECLIPSE is that its observation
IMPERATIVELY requires wearing "SPECIAL GLASSES" to protect your "EYES"
during the entire phenomenon.

SOLAR ECLIPSES, because of their rarity and the spectacle they offer us, are
all the more fascinating to observe.

However, it is even more imperative to protect your EYES during the different phases of a partial eclipse.
